This is the World's Thinnest Laptop
"I love the World's thinnest laptop!"
The World’s thinnest laptop is really not something to really strive for. When you think about it, it’s a pretty crazy goal. As technology continues to improve, so it also keeps getting smaller. There is a point, though, when it will no longer be able to keep shrinking, otherwise you won’t be able to see the screen! Now tell me what good a tiny, thin, emaciated ultraportable notebook (or netbook, if you want to get really technical) is if you can’t see the screen?
And you can’t keep making them smaller and smaller, or you’ll no longer be dealing with a PC, you’ll have a cellular phone. And that’s not ideal either, because could you imagine typing on that thing? It wouldn’t be near efficient enough. So basically, go for the computer that really meets your needs and forget about the rest of the ‘bragging rights’ fancy stuff.
The companies that are currently making devices have been around for a while because they continue to do excellent work. They make quality machines and they always have, otherwise they would no longer be in the game. So when you see manufacturers at the store like Compaq, Toshiba, Acer, or Dell, you know you can think quality. And they are also striving to make the World’s lightest model, so you can at least shoot for that.
What about operating systems? Do they matter? The answer is no, they do not. What’s important is that you find one that you’re more comfortable with. People have great experiences and poor experiences with both operating systems, so don’t ever be fooled into thinking that one is the best and the other is the worst. It just doesn’t work that way.
In the meantime, you can be thinking about getting a cable of some sort to connect y our device with either a larger monitor or the television. Some people even connect them with an xBox 360. Now, granted, this is purely optional, but it’s really cool. Apple, HP, Gateway, and Sony have all experimented with this with mixed results. It’s really what you make of it. But whatever you do, don’t focus too much on getting the thinnest model. You want reliable with great battery life. That’s what you need.
